ESTHER
ATOSHA
Country Director - Congo / Volunteer, Director
Esther hails from the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. In response to prevalent peace problems and social injustice in her community, she advocates for positive change to create a supportive environment for young people and women to reach their full potential.
As a representative of Young Women Leaders/SK, a global network of women peace builders, she empowers young women to develop leadership skills and confidence in conflict-affected countries. She also serves as an entrepreneurial coach for Street Business School, coaching women from underprivileged backgrounds to become successful entrepreneurs. Additionally, Esther is a co-founder of a youth peace and security coalition in the DRC, assisting in drafting the National Action Plan for the implementation of Resolution 2250. She believes that progress in her country cannot be achieved if young people and women are marginalized and dreams of influencing decision-making processes.
Esther leverages social media to amplify her community's activities and address peace and injustice issues. She has authored numerous articles, including the award-winning "A Letter to My Daughter," and as a World Pulse ambassador, she imparts digital skills to women and girls in her community.
Esther has participated in various international programs, such as the Nobel Women Initiative's sister-to-sister program and the World Trade Organization congress on gender.
She was part of the 2023 cohort of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, focusing on leadership in public management at Syracuse University. Additionally, she is an alumna of the Kecktil program and serves as the regional coordinator for Africa.
